International nuclear services company EnergySolutions has signed a $19-million contract with Batelle Energy Alliance (BEA) to manage the waste generated by the laboratory operations at the Idaho National Laboratory site.

BEA is the Management and Operations contractor at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls.

Under the terms of the five-year contract, EnergySolutions will provide various services such as characterization, loading, treatment disposal, and oversight of packaging and transportation of radioactive, hazardous, industrial, and mixed waste for several BEA-managed facilities at the site.

Steve Creamer, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of EnergySolutions expressed delight over the new contract with BEA. “We appreciate the confidence Battelle Energy Alliance has in EnergySolutions to perform waste services at the BEA laboratory facilities. We look forward to working with Battelle Energy Alliance to ensure the waste is safely and efficiently managed,” he exclaimed.

EnergySolutions offers a variety of comprehensive nuclear services such as nuclear operations, characterization, nuclear materials management, processing, recycling, and disposition of nuclear waste, and research and engineering services across the nuclear fuel cycle. The company’s headquarters is located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
