The garments, designed for everyday stylish casual wear, include recycled polyester, which comes from crude oil; organic cotton; and lyocell, a light and silky textile made from regenerated cellulosic fiber that comes from eucalyptus wood pulp.

Over three-quarters of occupied primary residences in the United States had air conditioning equipment in 2009, out of which less than 10 percent remain to be non-energy efficient, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported. According to new data from the E.I.A.’s Residential Energy Consumption Survey, about 87 percent of 113.6 million U.S. homes occupied as a primary residence in 2009 had air conditioning equipment.

Ford Motors and Toyota Motors have agreed to jointly develop powertrains for hybrid light trucks and sports utility vehicles a decision that comes on the heels of more stringent fuel-economy rules in the United States. The car makers signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday to build hybrid powertrains for Ford and Toyota rear-wheel trucks and SUVs to be sold within the decade, according to a statement.

KUALA LUMPUR, August 1 (Reuters) - Malaysia, the word's no.2 palm oil producer, will come up with a certification scheme to ensure the tropical oil is grown without clearing forests and destroying wildlife, a newspaper reported on Monday.
The Business Times quoted Commodities Minister Bernard Dompok as saying the Southeast Asian country had to act on its own, signaling it was responding to growing scrutiny by green groups and activists.

The Massachusetts Bottle Deposit Law, which places a $0.05 refundable deposit on all carbonated sodas, beer, and malt beverages, is being proposed for expansion to increase its coverage of recyclable bottles. The proposed expansion aims to include every bottle and can of 100 percent juice, juice drinks, iced tea, bottled water, flavored water, coffee-based drinks and sports drinks of less than one gallon in size under the refundable deposit.

Hybrid vehicles ranked high on the recently released Consumer Reports listing of the most fuel efficient cars. The magazine, published by the global non-profit testing organization Consumer’s Union, named the most fuel efficient cars based on its latest series of auto-test programs for fuel economy. Hybrid vehicles Toyota Prius IV, Lexus HS 250 h, and Ford Escape Hybrid made it to Consumer Report’s best cars list.
