Solar panels provide power for headquarters of Fuss & O’Neill in Connecticut

Fuss & O’Neill, a consulting civil and environmental engineering company, has turned to solar power to meet its energy needs. The company has recently installed a solar electric system comprising 119 solar panels on the rooftop of its headquarters in Manchester, Connecticut.
Alteris Renewables, the leading integrator of renewable energy systems in the Northeast, was in charge of the overall design and installation of the solar energy system. The solar installation has an output capacity of 36 kilowatts, supplying a significant portion of the energy needed in Fuss & O’Neill’s headquarters. The system will also help avoid 441 tons of carbon dioxide emissions over the lifetime of the system.
EOS Ventures of Massachusetts financed the solar project through a power purchase agreement, which, through a third-party ownership, allows companies the benefits of using solar energy systems without the usual large initial capital investment. The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) also provided significant grant support for the project.
Fuss & O’Neill held the dedication for its new solar installation on May 27, 2009.
