Siemens is set to provide a sustainable process water system for a new factory of the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (DPS). Siemens has been awarded a multimillion-dollar contract by The Benham Companies to provide the system for a new bottling plant in Victorville, California.

The 1,200-gpm (273-m3/hr) system will include media and carbon filtration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet disinfection and is designed to recover more that 90% of the water. The system also incorporates water savings features such as reject recovery reverse osmosis and backwash reclaim from the multimedia filters and carbon towers.

Siemens will design, install, and start up the system, which is scheduled for commissioning in early 2010. The treated water will be used to make purified bottle water and a variety of soft drinks.
Once completed, the Victorville plant will be the most advanced production facility in the Dr. Pepper Snapple Groups system and will be LEED-certified.

Siemens’ has already had earlier projects at DPS’s plants in St. Louis, Missouri; Jacksonville, Florida; Williamson, New York; Irving, Texas; and Columbus, Ohio.
