Integrated German wind turbine manufacturer and wind park developer Nordex AG announced last week the inauguration of the company’s 50-megawatt (MW) wind farm in Tychowo, Poland.
The wind farm is located in Tychowo in Poland’s Slawno region, about 350 kilometers northwest of Warsaw on the Baltic coast. The wind farm consists of 20 units of Nordex’s N90/2500 wind turbines, each with a rated generating capacity of 2.5 MW. The low-speed version of the N90/2500 is used in this region, which has mean wind speeds of 6.5 meters-per-second. The wind farm will generate about 100,000 megawatt hours (Mwh) of electricity a year, providing enough electricity to power about 30,000 Polish households.
The wind farm will be operated by Megawatt Baltika, a subsidiary of Austrian-Spanish joint venture RP Global based in Vienna and Madrid.
Nordex is maintaining a presence in Poland, where it opened a branch in Danzig at the beginning of the year. Nordex field personnel will be monitoring wind turbines in Koszalin near the Baltic Sea, as well as the Tychowo wind farm.
Nordex manufacturers onshore wind turbines, rotor blades, and wind turbine electrical and control technologies. The company has delivered 4,900 MW worth of wind turbines across 34 countries. The company is located in Norderstedt, near Hamburg, Germany. The company is listed on Xetra and Frankfurt Exchanges. The stock was up 1.91% in the Xetra to €10.66 on the opening of June 29, and was up 0.95% at €10.60 on the Frankfurt Exchange.
