Ford Motor Company this week announced its lineup of cars for the 2010 model year, which includes two hybrid vehicle models.

Ford said its 2010 model year offering has among the most new introductions, with 10 models, of which the 2010 Ford Fusion and 2010 Mercury Milan’s hybrid versions are only a part.

Fusion and Mercury Milan will be able to travel 41 miles per gallon (mpg), making them “better than Toyota Camry Hybrid” by 8 mpg, Ford said. The car company said this also makes the models the “most fuel-efficient midsize sedans in America.”

Ford is confident in the ability of its new products to attract customers, citing recent marketplace accomplishments that said the 2010 Fusion Hybrid is bringing in new customers at a fast rate.

The company said 54% of Fusion Hybrid buyers were the ones that did not previously own Fords, and 66% of owners were previously driving foreign brands.

“We are absolutely committed to delivering new products with the best fuel economy in every segment in which we compete—driven in large part by substantial advancements in power train technology,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president at Ford Global Powertrain Engineering.

Ford said its current vehicle electrification efforts will result in at least four electric vehicles on US roads by 2012.
